Hi Can any one advise me in a slight problem with my sc, I have noticed a judder from gear stick when setting off in 1st and same in reverse. iT is good on all other changes and some time its hardley noticable were others its like its going to fall out
I have been told probally clutch but after reading threads could it bee adjustment or a plown crank oil seal I am in West Yorkshire and happy to bring car to you if local so you can drive it to pin point problem
Hope it is something and nothing
Does a shortshift kit make the 915 box any better ?

If you had a blown crank oil seal you would really be in trouble Simon. I'd look at the linkage first before you start blaming the clutch and anything else that involves taking the engine out. Check the bushing below the gear stick and the bushings in the coupling between the input shaft and the gear stick shaft. The coupling is under the carpet behind the front seats, undo the four screws that hold the ali' panel down and check the bushes in the coupleing, mark the parts before dissasembly or you will have to reset the gear stick 'gate'. Short shifter kits magnify faults but in a properly set up transmission I'd say they are an improvement. There is one short shifter that has a default gear to help you avoid killing the engine if you miss or get the wrong gear gear, 4th I think.

Thank you for your sugestion I will check the linkages One thing Ive noticed is the floor plate under wear the pedals is seems a bit loose /? Is there a panel there or is it rot..
I am going to lift the carpet to see When I get a chance
I used to own this sc and i registered it then. I have just bought it back after 2 years
still looks good and drives great apart from box.
I wish to thank you again, and ill let you know once rectified.
all the best Simon

There is a wooden board behind the foot pedals , the retaining nuts may be loose. To get the carpet off detach the throttle linkage rod behing the accel' pedal and it should lift over the other two pedals.

cheers Ill investigate soon did you say wood .... i thought you could only get wood in tvrs..
