Judgement Day..My cars not having any of it

[&:] Feeling very guilty about not being organised for this event so this afternoonI booked my MOT and organised some sticky tyres to go on some spare splitties I've got, shot into Bromley to get the thin spacers required....got back to base to start the car and after rigging it up to a jump box (flat battery) found that it just turned over and over..........This Donkey simply won't start....it refuses...doesn't want to embarasse you guys on Monday I guess []

Anyone got any clues???? Could I have overloaded it somewhere or spiked the system????

Sounds like a long one but it's true....honest

Lee, if you have not used it since last Dec, is there any fuel in the car??? Maybe it needs cranking to get some juice through.......

Whip a plug out, rest it on the block to see if it sparks while cranking it over at least you will know if it is fuel or ignition.

Anyhow, what is wrong with your mechanics? will they not look at anything with less than 10 cylinders and 8 litres [:D]
Good luck sorting it.

Paul.....I parked it about 10 days ago after finding it in storage, left it in the workshop and now nothing.

I was running so late when I went to pick the car up that the mechanics had gone.....anyway, if they can't plug it into a computer they're lost these days.

Paul.....I parked it about 10 days ago after finding it in storage,

How many other cars did you have to trip over before you found it????[:D]

Your space is still there Lee......no doubt within the resources of your Empire you can get a VW based derivative up and going

OR..............

CALL THE AA/RAC!

A 76 beetle convertible or a Manx buggy?

I'll be there..........not sure that it will be aircooled though unless someone on here finds me the reason the RS is on strike.[8|]

AA, RAC ???

Lee, i would start off as Paul suggests. I would put petrol in it to be 100% sure you have some (i have heard it too many times before). Confirm your battery is good or swap it out (they don't live forever!)Do the spark test and go from there. If it is ignition, does it have an imobiliser? worth checking around the battery cut off switch for loose wires often tagged on for immobilisers that mysteriously fall off etc. check the relevant fuses in the fuse box and seeing your likely to have one at your disposal swap out the dme relay. These are all no brainer jobs before looking deeper. Have fun.

Jumpstarting can knacker the DME unit. Can you get hold of another unit and try when the battery is fully charged?
Cheers,

Thanks guys...the only immobiliser is the factory one and I'm not sure what that consists of. (Stickers in the rear qtr glass)

My fear was that I may have damaged the DME or similar. I'll have to go through the process.....How much is a DME likely to cost me.....anyone got a spare that I can borrow?
