Member News
Welcome to new members Jason Meare (Manchester M28), Alan Dixon (Wilmslow - 997), Andrew Speight (Warrington - 928 S), Danny Connolly (Macclesfield - 928 S4 & 996 C4), Paul Martin (Bolton - 996 C4S) and Cameron Kennedy (St Helens - 944). As you will see below, our July Club Night is devoted to you and all the other R5 members who have joined the Club during the past year. So please do your best to come along and meet some of your fellow R5 members and find out more about what the Club has to offer.

Next R5 Event
The next R5 event is our annual Open Evening visit to PC Wilmslow on 9 June, starting at 1900. (See also "Forthcoming Events" below.)

Porsches at Arley Hall - Update No.1
The preparations for our new Regional Event "Porsches at Arley Hall", on 26 September, are proceeding apace. Following signature of the venue hire contract with Arley Estates in late April, a survey of the event site has been undertaken, together with the fieldwork for the risk assessment. A preliminary layout for the display area has also been prepared and the first of the planned Porsche specialists and family attractions have been signed-up.

The Committee will do most of the pre-event work, but other volunteers will be needed on the day (and possibly the preceding day) to help set up for the event and ensure it runs as planned; not least to establish it as an event that people will want to attend in future years. Accordingly, please refer to the list of tasks in my July Newsletter (none of which will take more than an hour-or-so out of your day) and let me know with which one(s) you can help.

NB Please continue to look out for my monthly up-dates on the preparations for the event and how you can help make it a success.

FORTHCOMING R5 EVENTS
June 9 Club Night
This, our annual Open Evening visit to PC Wilmslow, will follow the usual, but none-the-less popular, format and include a display of less common Porsches, a quiz, discounted parts & Porsche Design Selection items and a complimentary buffet. This year's event will have an off-road theme, portrayed by a display of Porsche rally cars and the recently launched new evolution Cayenne. Unlike regular Club Nights, which start at 2000,
the PC Wilmslow Open Evening starts at 1900.

June 13 "Summer Sunday"
Rendezvous at Fryers Garden Centre, on the A50 a mile or so North of Knutsford, ready to depart at 1030 on a drive via the "˜wiches to Mill Meece Pumping Station, near Eccleshall. Mill Meece is home to the "Gentle Giants", two huge steam driven water pumps that supplied water to the Potteries from 1914 to 1979. On just a few days a year - of which 13 June is one - visitors to Mill Meece can see the "Giants" in action. On this occasion there will also be a Morris Minor Club rally.

Simple, cafeteria food is available, but if you want a more substantial meal either bring a picnic or join other members who will be repairing to a nearby hostelry for lunch.

July 14 Club Night
At The Deanwater Hotel; featuring our annual New Members Night. This is a relaxed evening, which affords new members an opportunity to get to know both the R5 Committee and their fellow members, and to find out more about the various events we organise for you. See also my July e-mail Newsletter for possible supplementary activities.

July 17/18 "Cholmondeley Pageant of Power"
See May Newsletter for details of the arrangements for R5 and neighbouring Region members

If you are lucky there may still be one or two free Paddock Enclosure tickets (ordinarily £25) for exhibitors on the R5 club stand. It may also still be possible to obtain additional, discounted, Paddock Enclosure tickets for either the on-stand or general parking areas at £15.00/day - with no restrictions on when you come and go in the case of the latter - and for the Saturday evening fireworks concert, also at £15.00. To get any of these you will need to contact me - preferably by e-mail - to obtain the R5 ticket ordering code(s).

August 1 "Summer Sunday"
Rendezvous at The Deanwater Hotel, ready to depart at 1130 for a c35 miles scenic drive via Buxton to Topclose Farm, Macclesfield Forest, home of member Peter Farley, for his annual Teddy Bears' Picnic. Be sure to bring a picnic, along with all the paraphernalia you might need to cope with our uncertain weather, and don't forget your bears.
