I thought I would share a view on a pretty special car.

Barry sent me a message last night to see if I fancied a quick run in his RS.

Having never had the pleasure I agreed and we set off for a quick 1 hr sprint round some local roads. I wasn't t sure what to expect in terms of the noise, feel or speed of the car. Barry drove and then let me have the pleasure of piloting the car home. I have driven a fairly varied and reasonable selection of cars over the years but honestly don't think I have ever have been in a more purposely and singularly focused car.

The car follows the road but doesn't throw you off, it almost steers itself with the way the geometry is set (all in a good way), it feels as if it corrects things for you. In terms of acceleration I much prefer the smooth linear and relentless shove to the almighty gulp of power the 993/ 997 Turbo gives you. The brakes are also a huge element in all of the process, they give you the feeling the car is half the weight its listed as, they scrub off speed so efficiently and predictably. All in all, top class.

The drive / speed was not by any means up exploring the limits of the car. A lot of road tests give me the impression these cars only come alive at the very limits of their performance threshold, that might be if you are a car hack. To me it was immense even at safe and comfortable speeds.

Wait till u drive it on track ..cant c Barry ever doing that[8D] .... or even better take it to the Ring ..mind blowing ..as long as Scotts not in front of you [:)][:)] [8D]

Love the car to bits Gordon - best 911 I've owned by far. If I were to truly enjoy track work Id rather by an old track slag and enjoy without the worries. For the time being I'm enjoying using the RS as the ultimate road weapon ....not to say Ill never take it on track tho .
