I know I'm a very lucky man after saving for a number of years to acquire my latest Porsche, a Cayenne Turbo S e-hydrid Coupe.

My question relates to ceramic discs. Does anyone have any experience of these on one of their cars?

My car sits outside for a number of days at a time without moving. When i do move it the brakes like to bind and make some horrible noises initially until I've driven for a while. Neighbours comment each time I move it..that's how noisy...is this normal? I get rain, weather, and sitting there would bind the pads/discs but i dread each time i move it and think I'm about to do damage.

Any thoughts, 1st hand experience feedback?

Thank you

Steve

Hi Steve,
This isn’t something I’ve personally experienced as all the Porsches I own have standard brakes. However, my understanding of ceramics is that apart from obviously offering better performance, they don’t rust or corrode due to road salt and water. If you are experiencing some form of binding when starting off it may well be worth getting them checked out by your local OPC.

Sorry I can’t offer any more advice.
Greg.

Here's what i got back from dealer for everyone's info.
Vehicle: Cayenne Turbo SE Hybrid
Note: Ceramic Brakes:
The information below contains typical braking noises and their conditions of occurrence, brakes do make a noise.
Braking noise
Conditions of occurrence
Mooing / creaking
[*]A mooing noise and creaking can be heard when the brakes are pressed lightly when the vehicle is nearly at a standstill, e.g. when manoeuvring or parking.[*]These noises usually do not occur during normal driving.[*]Slopes, wetness and Sport+ driving mode as well as low temperatures increase a mooing / creaking.
Squealing
[*]Slopes, wetness and Sport+ driving mode as well as low temperatures increase a mooing / creaking.
Scraping / chipping
Usually occurs on PCCB brake systems when the brake is actuated shortly.[*]Slight actuation of the brake can promote scraping / chipping.
My 992 with PCCB does as described above ( Mooing/creaking) and when moving very slowly ( out of garage and down driveway). I also have had several folks comment. My PC tells me it’s normal ( I jumped into a demo car and that was the same). I know it’s not a Cayenne but guess same principles apply.
