What a great track!
Fried one set of brake pads, but apart from that. A great weekend. For those who have never done it, it's a must.[:D]

Hi Nick, how many laps did you get before frying? Got those stripes on yet - post a pic when you do?

Phil

Are you talking about the Nordschliefe or the GP circuit?

In answer to the question regarding helmets, if on the Nordschliefe, it is a de-restricted public toll road, so no requirement to wear a helmet (although it is probably a good idea!). You do get coaches on there, I would imagine it to be quite funny to see 60 + passengers and a driver all wearing helmets!!

No Helmet as it was the Nordschliefe
In all I did 10 laps, tyres are ok, just heavy on the brakes, and it is a heavy car

Fantastic fun...got to be done

a couple of pictures are on this web site, under "NBR Experience *NEW*"

Hi - I've just booked my ferry for a run there in August. [:D] When you say the brakes were fried, do you mean they were completely shot?! Did you take it easy or hammer it? I'm only intending to do a handful of "sensible" laps but am now wondering whether I need to take a spare set of pads with me.

Also, did you have insurance cover?

I'm only intending to do a handful of "sensible" laps..

That's what they all say! Just wait till you see those views![:)]

Erm......that was bad timing, my girlfriend wasn't very keen on me going anyway, and she's sat on my lap while I'm writing this! Oh well, "sensible" was the official line anyway. Now the truth is out! Anybody else going the weekend of 18th to 19th August?

I am a member by the way, not sure why it still says guest under my name, my profile definitely has my membership number on it.

There is a FAQ attached to the top of the general forum with instructions you need to follow to update your member status on the forum.

With regard to insurance on the Nordschliefe - it is a grey area - technically it is a normal one way toll road so normal insurance "should" cover. However most insurance companies are wise to it and in practise will not cover it.

Hi Julio,

my pads were half way worn anyway, the DB9 is a lot carries a lot more weight than a 911, so wear and frying them will be different. I was going round in around 9.15 to 9.30 mins a lap, so pushing quite hard, but not suppersonic like some of our fellow Porsche members.
Sensible laps.....never is one!

Julio,
It believe some insurance companies actually specify it as an exclusion to your cover so best to check. And while your checking make sure your girlfriend is insured for accidents whilst sitting on your lap![:)]
Cheers,
