Hi I have just purchased a 2002 C4s tipo[], I had carried out all the checks on it including a 111 point check which listed the following problems: 1. number plate lights not working 2. wheel bolts corroded 3. n/s mirror works backwards 4. mileage reset button missing 5. distortion through dash speakers 6. wipers smearing 7. air con not working 8. incorrect drivers floor mat fitted 9. tyres wearing unevenly 10. rear main and tipo sump gasket misting. I asked the opc about the misting of the gaskets and they said that it is nothing to worry about presently just that I may want to monitor them. The rest of the faults I believed were minor and i could sort out myself except for the air con, which the owner did re-gas for me and now it works fine. Also had the tracking done all round and now that's fine according to the print out. The n/s mirror I believe someone may have put the wiring plugs in the wrong way as I did see a receipt for a new wiring harness being placed on it previously. I have now gone back to the opc to ask about a warranty were they have now said I must get the problems with the misting gaskets repaired before I can have the warranty![] If I had told them from the start that I was intending to buy a warranty they would have told me to get the work carried out first hence I could have asked to owner to help pay towards the costs. As I only told them I was just thinking of buying the car they said it was nothing major to worry about presently so I bought the car! They also said that the 111 check is only valid for 48hrs so if I get the faults sorted after 48hrs I will have to pay again for another check! Does anyone know what they are talking about when they say "rear main and tipo sump gasket misting". Is this due to the RMS or just some gaskets? Any ideas of costs involved from indy's? Should I just have the bottom of the car steamed cleaned and get another 111 check done?[]

Hi, if you join PCGB a lot of regions arrange a free 111 point session with their local dealers.
Also, when I had my aircon regassed, the real problem was leaves gathering round the radiator at the front and causing a leak in the rad, so make sure it is clear of leaves under there. And think about the warranty,
Good luck and happy driving, Sue

OPCs - you gotta love them.
The rMS and tip gaskets misting are very minor - they could have been like that for over a year. Keep an eye on them, they may get worse if its recent failing. An independent specialist would replace those for uder £800, but Porsche have been replacing RMS seals under goodwill so i would talk to your, or another local, OPC for advice and a bit of sympathy.
Sounds like the OPC have done you a bit of a disservice to be honest - try another !

OPC was Sutton Coldfield, i may have to try and see if they will help towards the costs but i wont hold my breath.
Im assuming that it hasnt got a clutch so when would it be best to get these seals replaced?
Just taken the car for a underneath steam clean and all i could see was the usaul dry gundge. I will wait 1 week then take it back to see if i can see any leaks, if i cant i will try taking it to another OPC and see what they say about it.
Although i am having these problems, it still puts a smile on my face when i drive it[]
