I have been dreaming of one of these for years, after selling my E class I made the mistake of looking at 996's again and this one I could not miss, it's black with black leather with a factory fitted Aero body kit (again some hate them with this kit on but it was a must for me) GT3 wheels and the best bit its done 172000 miles but it drives like new due to having the engine and gearbox rebuilt 50,000 miles ago which is a must on one of these at this mileage.

I went to see it the day after it was advertised on Auto trader, where I met up with the owner a 24 year young man and after negotiating the price down the car was mine.

The poor thing was filthy inside and out (dirty posh **** more money than sense) but after a visit to the lovely local immigrant car wash it looked a different car.

It needs some work to get it to where I would like it and I've done quite a bit already.

Replaced various interior bits that were scabby centre console with a silver one so on so on.

Bought some new wheels and got them powder coated in gloss black, to refurbish the GT3 split rims but I now love the black ones on the car.

Took me half a day to change all the service items oil, filters and the plugs were a **** to change but I managed it all on my lonesome.

Fitted Pioneer double din that does everything and moved the air con controls down into the below consol.

Fitted quick shifter.

Things still to be done.

Repair front spoiler and repray 3/4 of the car( being done on the 31st).

Replace air con rads (leaking) re gas air con (being done tomorrow).

Changing the boot carpet for a black one.

Callipers repainted (red or black).

Bought Porsche M030 suspension upgrade (to be fitted sometime) .

Replace the key he lost and get it programed so the car opens and closes and the alarm activates.

Renovate or re spray the leather interior.

After all that I will be eating beans on toast for years.

I hope you like it, I love it.

Hi & Welcome Paul.

Looks like you're got a plan,

keep us posted on your progress & go for red callipers

I like the Scirrocco better, I had one of those in 1987, great car. Me and 3 mates used to cruise round the West end thinking we were cool listening to Rare Groove and early House music.

3 of us slept in it many times after clubbing in Shaftesbury Avenue as we lived in Bucks and were over the limit to drive home.

[attachment=image2.JPG] Thank you for the welcomes,

I've got a couple of Sirocco Scala's now, many years ago when I was 18 I was the kidy in my Mk 1 Scirocco Storm, there great little go carts, I'm a bit of a car hoarder I also own a 1991 Merc 300 SL r129 and I've almost finished restoring my Merc 190 2.5 16 v Cosworth.

Thank you

I must be a bit weird when the 996 first came out I really did not like the Aero kit on them but 15 years down the line I love it I did not want one with out the kit.
