Well I have been looking for a new daily, something fast, 4 x 4 and with more space than my BMW 330D M sport which had a fantastic engine

I always wanted a Range Rover but there are so many reports of unreliability that I dare not risk it, also I wanted the excellent service or Porsche

So I PX the BMW and take delivery of an almost new Cayenne 4.2 S Diesel, having spend a day driving one, and then a RR and then a BMW X5 4.0d nothing touched the Porsche for performance, MPG and ride, I decided to stay with 20 inch wheels and no Air Suspension, I just could not sense much difference unless I had bigger wheels which I did not want as I un the car in the winter on winter tyres.

Sure there a couple of bits I will miss like speed recognition and for some stupid reason auto dipping mirrors but all-round nearly new and over £15K off list :)
Strange as this car is Porsche's biggest selling car that this part of the forum is the quietest!

Air suspension was a total God-send during the floods - being able to go up to the top levels and wade through rivers (aka roads).

Plus driving V8 Diesels with and without AS back-to-back on the handling course at Porsche Silverstone Experience Centre felt like the car without AS was 10 years older - nowhere near as tight or responsive in the corners. Harder ride too.

So I am disappointed to hear when people say they couldn't see the need for AS, as to me this totally makes the car [:(]

Maybe because I come from M cars and alike I don't notice it, but drove both and on smaller wheels could really not say much difference in normal road use both very compliant and excellent ride, compared to the soft ride of a RR and certainly the hard ride of a BMW both with and without the Porsche was light years ahead. I did not get to Silverstone but as I do 20K miles a year I felt my choice was in normal everyday use fine.

Had mine 13 months now, just brilliant. Economy and performance seem to improve as the mileage increases. The torque is just sensational.

Update , really really impressed , ride is fine no issues at all on 20 inch, power is something else I swear this car is almost as fast as my Boxster s 981 :) mpg returning about 29 to 33 mpg which is as expected .

Miss reversing camera , but I am sure. Will get used to a bigger car. Car certainly has presence and passerby certainly like the sound . All-round a very very impressive car .

Pleased I did not go for a Range Rover it would feel like a slug if compared .
