I've just got off the phone from my OPC chasing one of the hard back books which I'm collecting after work to get the added bonus of a January 05 build date.

So gotta spec the car finally by mid October and now thinking March 1st 05 'new reg day' will be new car day for me.

WOW pretty much says it all for me.

My OPC was trying to sweet talk me into a Nov build for January delivery but I would rather wait for new reg, less snow on tarmac [:D] test drive a few specs ie 18" & 19" and then go for it .... Can't see me being ready too spec until well into December / January.

Having spent this evening looking over the hard back book here's the spec I will probably go for on Friday when I firm everything up:

Standard 2.7 Car - With Metropole Blue Hood or Black?
Seal Grey Metallic Paint
Bose Stereo & Wind Deflector
Half Leather Interior - Black or Grey?
Cruise Control
Heated Seats
Sports Chrono
Climate Control Upgrade
Factory Collection
Xenon Headlights
Park Assist
Auto Dim Mirrors

Maybe also sports seats & 18' alloys?

Have I missed anything really important?

Without the Active Suspension what does the Sports Chrono do? It seems (from what I've read so far - my brochure isn't here yet) that it really comes in to it's own as a control for the sports settings of the suspension?

Yes 3.2 engine :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The 18'' wheels look nicer in the brochure.
I'm waiting to see them au natural.

I spec'd my 987 this afternoon - 2.7 seal grey met., black hood, stone leather interior, plus many other goodies including PCM. I was pleasantly surprised that the total price was almost the same as my MY 2000 2.7. Jan/Feb build, March 1st delivery.

Because many features are shared with the 997, I chose a number of options by looking at the 997s in the showroom eg colours, seats, leather, PCM satnav, wheels, park assist, steering wheel etc. The front storage space is now very tidy, with a covered space to ensure small items don't fly around.

My OPC is now quoting Sep 05 delivery for new orders, and would only offer Mar 05 deliveries to their waiting list for orders spec'd by mid Oct for Jan/Feb build. The implication was simple - spec now or lose your place.

Some of the comments I received included:
- 18" wheels or bigger are a must
- sport seats may not suit the 'larger driver'
- silver is still the most popular choice
- price is not guaranteed; may change on delivery
- PCM becoming more popular; could effect residuals (I was having it anyway!)
- some orders exceed £50K (£52K for an S is their max to date)

Sift the wheat from the chaff, but I conclude it is wise to spec now.

Just sorted my car and gone for the following, only a couple of changes from my original idea:

Standard 2.7 Car - With Black Hood
Seal Grey Metallic Paint
Bose Stereo & Wind Deflector
Half Leather Interior - Black
Sports Steering Wheel
18' Alloys
Heated Seats
Sports Chrono
Climate Control Upgrade
Factory Collection
Xenon Headlights
Park Assist
Auto Dim Mirrors

How to spend £38K in one go!

Not forgetting an additional £850 for factory collection.
