This is my favourite subject to rant about in fairness so dont take any notice of the following rambling.

Them effin gombeens have raised the tax on cars here again. Last year it was €498 for 6 months now its €518... Well I had to put up with it or not drive my beloved 944. Rant over. At least I got in before the budget on the 7th April

I went to her garage and took her out. Checked her over and just packed her and headed to Galway. I had a fantastic run down. I had forgotten just how good it felt ! You sit IN a 944 and you sit ON a Focus.

I couldnt go without taking pictures now could I[:D]

Now where did I put that to do list[:D]

Apparently taxing us so highly will save the planet and reverse the (actualy never happened) rise in sea levels. Better that you buy a new car and save polution (and therefore the whole planet) irrespective of the fact that making a new car causes far more damage than running an old one. Better still, buy a hybrid and save the planet even more, but not the huge swathes of it that are poisoned by nickel production.....

That is for a cert... Classic Car Weekly bought a one owner 1994 Volvo 940 estate at auction and promptly went to an MOT station to get the emissions checked - it registered 0.025% .. This is much less than most new cars... The Volvo falls into the proposed "scrappage bracket" and would invariably end up in a crusher if this scheme is brought in. Here Nissan are offering €3000 for scrappage... This will not save the planet.. no chance...!

Donal, you are a true 944 owner...Hope to see you and the motor at silverstone again this year ?

Steve.

Thanks Steve.. I hope to go to Blenheim Palace this year - Wife has indicated an interest [;)]

Given that Ireland doesn't have a car industry it will do nothing to help the economy. If anything promoting older cars would improve Ireland's economy because the money will be spent locally with garages and parts retailers.

The high taxes wont save the planet but it will mean that there will be more of our money for politicians to use to buy more dirty movies on their expenses!

Donal and other Irelanders - I really feel for you. This is nothing short of daylight robbery.

Those bast*rds robbed me too, for the second time in 6 months!

In November, they stole €1500 from me for a year's tax on my S8,
and now they've took €518 for my 944 - and that's only 6 months mind you!

I don't normally do smiley's as a rule, but I feel it's justified!
