Just had a test drive... 997 C2S

Nice way to pass lunchtime at Porsche Solihull. Currently in a 996 C4S so was intrigued to see what i thought of the new ones.

4k on Clock, aerokit, black, black leather./ 355hp thru the rears.

Very impressed. Interior was stunning, felt better than the 996. The suspension control button was a nice feature and really stiffened it up. Enjoyed driving with the power to the rears, felt quite different but I can imagine once you got used to it then it would be faster than its 4WD drive cousin.

Price however wasn't as enjoyable, nor were the finance packages on offer really. Had to remind myself that I wasn;t there for a mortgage.

I was afraid getting back into mine that it may feel a little poor in comparison, how wrong was I! Had a great drive home and staring at it on the drive now I can;t imagine saying goodbye.

Good fun though, food for thought. PS: Need to earn more money quick...

can see why you were tempted!!!

i found huge difference from 996 to the newer model series, but the 996 was fun!!

I like the look of the 997's too, especially in GT3 guise...

I can see what's going to happen though... we all love this forum so much, BUT when Richard upgrades to a 997 there's going to be a max exodus. 996 prices will plummet and good 997's will be rarer to find than the proverbial hen's tooth :-(

I'll have to sell my Turbo before I tell anyone then. [8|]

Might be a while. 997TTs have reached the £60K level, but at this rate it will still be a couple of years before I can convince Mrs H to let me invest in one. Trouble is that my "investment" is mirroring the trend of my pension fund........ [;)] [;)]

Well, provided the 997TT depreciates less quickly than your pension fund, you're better off putting your money into the Porsche instead. Tell Mrs H you heard it on the forum, so it must be true ;-)
