Hello all, After meeting some of the diehard 944 members at the recent ACE cafe ( thanks to Pete Empson for the lift in his very quick S2) I decided its time i got onto this forum. Titanic is very quiet these days so i will be lurking here and making the occasional post from time to time, I have dropped the titanic membership for now.

A track day at Brands was discussed when is this planned for ? i hope to prepare the ultralight 944 back to road legal spec for some antics.
I wont be at the pcgb national as have to study and complete works to my house which is all a bit of a drag.

Best regards Simon@essentialstyling.com

Hi Simon,
Glad you could join us.
The Brands track day is on the 9th of October, John's original thread is here:

I'm aiming to be there (just need to get RPM to fit some new pads for me), I hope to get booked up when I have some more time late next week.
Looking forward to seeing the super lightweight lux in action again [:D]
best regards,
Peter

Oh thats blown it, I am on holiday with teh family during that week so cant attend the Brands hatch trackday.

I hope to be at lots of trackdays over the winter, mostly Bedford i expect.

I prefer winter track days to summer days, so hope to catch up with some of you then.

Best regards Simon

Hi Simon, welcome on board. You'll find most of us from Titanic have made it to the lifeboats and resurfaced over here [:)]

I never realised you had a surname and it was Davidson, I always knew you as Simon from ESS [:D]

D'you know - I was exactly the same!!! When I went down to see Simon a few months ago I had to ask him because I've only ever know him as Simon at Essential!!!

Hi Simon,
be good to see the ultralight out and about again, did you ever get it weighed?
Tony

i decided to Join this forum in my full name rather than ESS as its less commercial and i remember the PCGB forum frowning on traders punting products etc.

The 944 is getting close to its final configuration, i have a second hand lightweight carbon bonnet and theres a good few kilos to come off with the grinder still. I have added a custom cages roll cage at 35kg that i had to fit as i was starting to scare myself with some fast cornering on trackdays. It could then get a lick of paint although I love the current street rat look. I always thought that Fens term of "Track slag" may have been appropriate for my car as its certainly rough and ready until you get to the mechanics which are reasonably sound (touch wood).

I recently fitted a 944 turbo LSD and have a GT racing front bumper that needs modifying before fitting. Then theres just removal of the heating fan/system and addition of a passenger seat before its ready for weighing and another winters track days. Hoping to get under 1000kg, last count my net loss was 186kg thats before new bonnet, another grinding session, heater removal but addition of roll cage and seat.

Next really big project will be the 968 engine that i have, unless someone buys the engine for sensible money..........oops is this post getting commercial?

Good to see so many familiar names on here. Best regards Simon
