Sorry to pop back with more questions, but i've just been to look at a 996 and have a couple of Q's..

Firstly, its a 99 C2 in Ocean blue, 50k, FSH*, reasonable condition.
*the history has one little omission, which is one stamp missing, but he has a reciept from when he bought the car saying it was serviced..
It seemed fine, bodywork not bad, couple of parking dents, couple of scratches, all in all was ok.
One front indicator had condensation in.
Down side is no Trip computer or Traction, but the uprated CD player (single though), had a sunroof too.
I was wondering what you reckon this car is worth?

Also, the clutch hasnt been changed - looking under the back there were a couple of 'dark' stains in points around the engine. (and im going to regret asking this) how could i identify if the RMS was 'sweating'? or indeed leaking?
How long to clutches tend to last? It has had a recent service at a specialist (and i have the owners permission to call them for an opinion on the mechanics of the car).

The only bugger is its a private sale, and he wants to move quick, which means i have to find a buyer for my IS200, so if you know anyone looking for one, let me know.

Don't be forced into a quick buy - there are plenty around, and with a bit of patience you should find one with Porsche history for 3-4 years and recognised specialist afterwards.

Before you buy make sure it gets an inspection, about £120 at the OPC who will also point out everythingnthat would need to be done before you could buy a warranty from them

Does not sound like a great car i would not go for it unless it is a bargain, opc inspection should tell you how good it is then decide this does not help you on pricing what is it up for ? £28.000 Tops?

I paid over 30 18months ago for my 99 c4 it was in the colour i wanted had 32.000miles on the clock 1 owner and an amazing opc history, i have had great fun with this car and am not worried if i paid £2.000 - £3.000 over for it because it was exactly what i wanted. There are some baragains out there but you will have to pay a bit more if you are being particular.

Good luck it will be intresting to hear how you get on.

Phil

I did find a much better example (2000, 55k, FSH, mint condition C4) yesterday..

So you guys were right, there are nice ones out there...

The only downside is it was the top end of my budget, but like you say philippe, its worth it.. BUT, i need to secure a buyer for my car before I can put a deposit on it...

so if anyone knows of anyone looking for a rather splendid IS200... let me know ;)
