Bit self indulgent this one 'cos I'm feeling sorry for myself: The impending loss of my company car means that we (wife and I) will have to use our 'fun' cars as everyday cars. Well she has a Mazda MX5 (which I don't really like) and I have the 964 (which she won't drive because its LHD and a bit too hairy scarey). The only solution was to sell both and buy something we would both be happy to drive - enter a Boxster 3.2S which we collected last week and it is a very easy, user friendly car to drive. Accordingly the 964 was put up for sale: so far so good.
Until today.
The new owner was due to come and collect the 964 today and I took it out for a last spin and to put some fuel in and it suddenly dawned on me that I had probably made a big mistake: after a week of driving the Boxster, it was apparent that any journey in the 964 is much more of a big event. To add insult to injury, my 964 feels much faster too - at least in terms of mid range acceleration.
However, it was a bit late to be changing my mind as the new owner was on his way to collect the car and for once, I didn't let my heart rule my head but as I watched him drive away in in my pride and joy, I honestly felt like crying.
That was 3.30 pm this afternoon. By 7.30, I was already idily wondering what spec 964 I would ideally like next time and trying to work out how I could make it happen.
At least the new owner has just contacted me after his journey home to say what a fantastic car it is.
Anyway, I'd just like to thank everyone who has taken time over the last couple of years to answer my questions and help me out via the forum - always very much appreciated.
And now I'm off to the Boxster forum...
