Just got back from test driving the 3.4l Boxster S at Reading OPC

Spec was 19 inch rims, PSM, Sports seats, Sat Nav, Bose
No Sport Chrono Pack, No PASM

I have to say I was suitably suprised .. car had 170 miles on the clock but was noticable more eager around the 4000 rev mark.. Ride was also better than our 2005 987S which is fitted with PASM, Chrono Pack, 19inch rims

Interestingly I was told that they are on std delivery for the 3.4 for the next few months .. ie order one now and you can get one in Nov, Dec..

However come January all OPCs in the UK are getting their allowance cut.. Last year Reading did 360+ cars, they are on traget to do slightly more this year, however in FY2007 they will get 320 cars only (to protect Owner Residuals) .. So an out come of this is that they have pretty much sold the April, May and June 2007 Boxster manufacturing slots allocated to them already...

In February this year we had a meeting at Porsche Cars UK. Geoff Turrell (Marketing Head Guy at Porsche UK) said they would be cutting the number of cars brought in, as the higher numbers were hurting residuals (and therefore the customers).

Mark,
When is the Boxster S 3.4 and the new 2.7 launch date? Wouldn't Reading have these cars by then and may give them to us for the display?
[/blockquote]

Graeme did it sound any different to the 3.2 [8D]

I thought it was quieter than our 987S 3.2 .... now the weird thing is we have std exhaust and at the 10 Yr anniversary Castle Coombe track day our car was right on the limit of the sound test ... the testers did it twice ... but honest gov ..its a std exhaust :.....

Sounded great thou .. especilly at 4K to 5K Revs with those Michalin pilots "chirping" around the roundabouts on the A4 heading back to Reading OPC [;)]

OHHHHH and forgot to say ........ we asked about IPOD integration and .... "its planned for middle of next year and will be retrofitable ...." however the court is out on to what and how far back ...

LOL ....

There are a lot more internal trim options available .Also there is a Sports Pack (body styling) which I think looks really nice.. especially the back ... Have a play with the Configurator on the web site
