Just the turbos that get unbearably hot inside...?!!

Well, I have done 120 miles in the Turbo today, in lovely sunshine....

Is it just me whose car becomes crazy warm inside in the sun and without working A/C, is reduced to a sweaty mess after a few miles of stationary traffic?![8|]

Well it's made my mind up, £180 for a new A/C condensor and I should have working A/C for Le Mans, without it doesn't bear thinking about....

Or am I just too used to my modern car with A/C...[:D]

Black interiors don't help I guess.

I hope a new condensor is a fix for you - bear in mind you might have leaks from the pipes. The rubber sections can become porous.

My car is black along with everything inside and theres no A/C ! it dose get very hot [&:] but then thats a good time to take the sun roof out [:)]

I had someone convert it for R134 refrigerant the other day, but when they vacuum tested it, it would not hold it and then when they pressurised it, you could hear the air whistling out of the hole in the condensor..[8|]

Mine has a linen interior but still got blooming hot - even at speed, it was struggling to keep the cabin temp down without the a/c working.

Now this will definitely be the last expenditure on the car... ...apart from the suspension corner weighting and set up & the bits of paintwork....[8|][:D]

you wanna try sitting in traffic in a black 928 without sunroof phew talk about sweatbox. It must be something to do with the colour cos my Dove blue S2 with cream interior is not too bad.
It used to have A/Con I wonder how much it would cost to put it back in ?

I have been playing the lets fix the aircon game and 3 years and TOO much money it may just about be fixed.[]

Expensive if they have not be maintained on our cars. Which is why I guess mine was not working.[]

Anyway here is to a cool summer, well on the inside anyway[:D]

It was only 20 degrees today [&:]

Do you work in an A/C building and have other A/C cars?

I think it's something you gradually get used to as the plethora of A/C locations multiplies year on year and your body gets artificially used to being at 16 degrees all day no matter what the natural weather is doing. I struggled for a few months when I left my job of 22 years in an A/C computer room, but now that I work outside all the time I shiver whenever I go into any shop with A/C and then sweat profusely at the heating in winter

Our cars do have a huge glass hatchback and windcreen though so it doesn't excatly help, spare a thought for us sweaty black car owners :ROFLMAO:

Plus the nuclear reactor under the bonnet of the Turbos especially, doesn't help in stop/start traffic!

I found that tinting the windows helped a huge amount. Especially having it quite dark across that massive rear hatch glass.

Yes it gets hot. Was going to get the system re-charged this month but the thermostat housing on my Focus has decided to spring a leak so that eats up May's car parts allowance. It really annoys me because it's made of plastic and guess what - when I rang the parts desk to enquire about thermostat housings gaskets he immediatly said "It'll be a crack in your housing. It happens quite alot on these cars". Unbelievable. Talk about the opposite end of the spectrum compared with Porsche over-engineering.

What is it in the system's workings that consumes the gas? I have to get my system recharged once a year and every leak check they perform says the system is airtight. Where does the gas go? It's really annoying.

Well I've bitten the bullet and got a new condensor for £175 plus vat and I'm going to try and fit it myself - the workshop manual makes it seem quite straight forward....[8|][:D]

Then have another go at regassing it all....[&:]

Hi Nick

Is or was yours fully gassed but still not producing cool air.

I have just had another new pipe fitted to "cure" a leak and re gassed but still blows warm!!!!

I am wondering if mine is also the condensor.

Cheers

Lee

S2 with baltic paint and linen interior and it's not too hot in summer ... mind you, I do remove the sunroof at every possible opportunity! (Lovely drive to work this morning with the roof out and windows down. I remember, once again, why I love that car so much ... )

Oli,

I do not have a sunroof [:D]

Which is why I need to get my aircon back working strong again.

No sunroof ! It must be baking in there.
With the weather we are getting now it's nice to be able to get the roof down and then get my forehead scalded off me. My own car is now in the garage getting the roof motor sorted after my mini emergency last Monday.
It's all black and black leather inside and it gets crazy hot in there on days like this.
Why does 20 degrees in Ireland/UK seem like 40 degrees elsewhere!

Another thought.......I've been working up to doing the glovebox out/heater clip job in the belief that it sometimes blows hot on a whim. I'll still strip it out to have a look, buthow about this: I did the Cotswold Rally with a friend who shared the driving and I could convince myself it's cooler on the passenger side.

It figures....the driver's feet are right by the exhaust manifold, aren't they?

What side's the turbo?

Perhaps there's something in having a LHD car after all!!

Lee, mine was empty and needed to be converted for the new R134 refrigerant first.

The pump seems to engage when you press the button, so i'm hoping that once the old leaky condensor is replaced and the system recharged, I will be able to chil out.... geddit?![8|][:D]
