Having had a 1973 911 for 15 years which I sold in 2011, I have been Porscheless until last weekend when I bought a 1978 928 manual, always fancied one and after two years of looking finally took the plunge.

However I bought it knowing it needed a clutch, after a 450 mile drive from Edinburgh to Bournemouth (either brave or stupid, or as I saw it an adventure), made it home safely for a reasonable £110 in fuel.
I can honestly say yes it needs a clutch, however I did not realise how rare and specialised this has turned out to be, clutch plates are OPC only, release bearing is no longer available so you have to buy a rebuild kit form 928 international in the states, or so I have been told.

However Porsche being very thorough in their design have put an access plate in the bell housing to change the clutch, so I am hoping it wont be too difficult once I get the parts.

Any help an advice in sourcing clutch parts would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi James , welcome to the ownership of the best Porsche ever built the mighty 928 so good I have three , [:)] before you go off buying very expensive parts give Paul Anderson (928 spares) a call he can probably sort you out with what you need he is based in Stroud 01453 299363
