My Turbo is in there for a major service and belts today so if it is ready tonight (which I doubt) then I'll hang around for the open evening.

Just used em for a 12,000 service.

Included was a full inspection and report, rear offside bearing and new thermostat.

I have absolutely no issue with what they did and the cost was reasonable and all that was done was thorough.................HOWEVER..................

I wheel has additional scratches, there is a fine but non polish outable etc scratch on the bonnet and the car was absolutely covered in grubby handmarks, finger prints etc. It had been washed but washing alone doesnt get rid of greasy marks.

The car isnt new so its difficult to argue that the damage wasnt there before but it is not far off being pristine/concours body wise so there arent many marks anyway apart from front end stone chips.

Im not a complainer but I am annoyed. I feel that it if it was a 993 it wouldnt have been handed over to me in that state. Anyone else had the same issues with their car (not necessarily at JZM)?

Go back to them and complain.

They have a reputation to maintain!

Do you mind me asking how much the bill was? My 12k Service + Fuel Filter + Coolant Change + Plus Front Brake Pads was £530, so wondering if it was similar.

They may have a reputation maintain but with this and the advice they offered recently to run trackdays with no thermostat I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't a bunch on monkeys.

They do have a very good reputation and, based on my experience, it is justified.

However, there are often a lot of Porsches in and around the workshops, so it does rely on a great deal of care from both staff and customers to avoid cars being accidentally damaged.

£492 []

12K service (less air filter as I have a K&N one apparently), replace thermostat, coupla bulbs, OEM DME relay as it an aftermarket one known to fail apparently and check its operation (car definitely `seems` to run/tickover smoother but it could be my imagination, check rear wheel bearing noise (its not the bearing its the transaxle pinion bearing (£1000 to replace[][][]) but its barely noticeable and they stated that it was likely to last another 50-100K miles and to replace when its too noisy. Some other small stuff in there as well incl retorque rear nut (where I removed the wheel)

Not cheap but not bad IMO service is about 280, thermostat was 85 plus parts, lubricants etc etc and vat

Hi All

My first Porsche was a 1982 944 lux around 6 years ago and it was very rough on the outside, I had Machtech change the cam belts and during this they managed to dent the bonnet, looked as if they left some tools under there and slamed it shut.

After I pointed this out Jonas (sp?) had dent master out the following week to fix at there expense, no questions.
Never had a problem with their service since, although they did start to get pricey so I've used a few others, but would reccomend them.

I spotted what looked like a nasty mark and damaged paintwork on returning to my car after they had had it once - I told them about it and they were excellent - accepting responsibility and working to fix the problem - which turned out to be nowhere near as bad as it looked - all polished up lovely. On another occasion I delivered the car to them and before I left they said it looked like someone had sprayed paintstripper over the bonnet! This was news to me and a big shock - turned out it was coca-cola or something that must have splashed over my car on the way there. Again, they polished the car up even though it was nothing to do with them - just goes to show that they do take note of the car's condition on arrival. It is worth talking to them about it.

I doubt they care what your car is - £500 is £500 quid whether from a 993 owner or a 944 owner. They are getting pricey though....[8|]

Call them up straight away Paul. Speak to Jonas or Dave and tell them what you've found. I am positive they will look after you. I've been going there over 6 years and did once have some minor scratching caused by a dirty service cover, They sorted it out straight away and were very accomodating. Mistakes do sometimes happen (as in anything with life) but they can't sort it out if they don't know about it [:D]

I am also a fan of JZ, they are always helpful and of the specialists I have used, the only ones I really trust. I recently had a radiator thermostat, sensor thingy changed by them, on a Saturday morning and they didn't even charge me for the labour (although they will get the money back no doubt when I take my 944S2 in for service and cam belt change tomorrow).

Yes, they are getting a bit pricey now, but isn't everyone. A local mechanic to me who services the Mrs's 205XS (quite sporty, and not too fast for a girl!) charges not much less per hours and he doesn't have anything like the facilities of JZ.

I always find JZ helpful and Jonas and Dave always have time to talk for a few minutes about my car.

I have a 1 page advert from JZ and they say that when they are done with the car they will clean it inside and out before returning it.
I'ld bring this to their attention.

As for me, got the car back last week. 1st drive in it and got a stone chip on the brand new windscreen. Grrr. It's back in the garage now because the roof has a personality of it's own. Sometimes will work, sometimes will not.
Saw a mag of 944s2 from 2002 and it seems prices for top quality cars might even be going up a little.

Kev.
