That would be me - something big came off a car in front, went through my grill, didn't think much of it until half a lap later and oil hose burst - big chunk missing from it, big mess, but no damage....pity as it was going well until then.

Lucky it did not come through your visor! Otherwise you'd have a shiner like Massa. Looking great for tonight. Bring a canoe!

yes, in the cold light of day today I'm thinking very much that - I found the culprit part - looks like a bit of a spring funnily enough - quite heavy, some pretty sharp corners on it - had it hit me anywhere then I could have been pretty badly hurt....might buy a better helmet and maybe one of these kevlar impregnated race suits [&:]....or a car with a roof!

might buy a better helmet
I think you are on the wrong track here Grieg. As you know it is a law of physics that all matter in the universe is attracted in some way to each other ( ionic bonding etc. ) , conversely all matter is generaly repulsed by ginger hair.... Nothing , no matter how large or fast will go near your head, the repulsive forces are too great. Not sure if this applies to body hair...

you may have a point mike....think I'll go cut my hair and smear it over the front of my car - that would mean nothing would touch it.... ...in fact, thinking this through, I think I'm going to go shave my ginger pubes and sellotape them to the underside of the car, and given all matter is repulsed by the ginger factor, the car will indeed levitate, and I will have invented the worlds first flying car.....
