k&n filter element

My car had one in when I bought it...took it out,,,they don't appear to give any more power than standard, doubt they filter as well and I have heard of problems where the oil on them has ruined the MAF sensor (meters air drawn into the fuel system) causing running issues and obviously more expense.
The only potential upside is they may make a little more induction noise than standard, you can always drill the airbox if that appeals.
I am more than happy running the standard paper filter and changing annually at the £8 or whatever they cost.

Used one briefly , IMO no noticeable improvement , car v similar to urs and Clubsports .......................kept reading dreadful things from US abt how they let too much dirt etc through and hence wrecked engines ..........hard to believe but just stopped in case!! Basis of simply was it worth it ?????

thanks, my car had one and I removed it because I have had MAF failures on different cars (non porsche) using them. Thought I may be being paranoid.
A lot of tuners seem to offer them (inc. manthey), which made me wonder if the car needed it.
It sounds like I made the right decision
