Your induction kit wouldnt fit my S2 but I am curious as to whether you can notice any difference in power? Loss or gain? It does appear that the cone would struggle to get cold air being mounted under the bonnet beside the engine, is this why you had the standard filter fitted?

K&N also do a panel filter that fits in the original filter housing, I assume there is one available for the 2.7. I have one fitted to my S2, cant really notice any difference in power, it was fitted at the same time as a Promax chip so its hard to tell, but the engine sounds alot nicer now, a bit more of a deeper burble.

Got to admit that I'm interested as I'm getting itchy feet for subtle mods. I wondered why you switched back too, was thinking of a k and n panel filter to still retain the cold air feed but could be swayed down the induction route . . .

I wonder how a Cone filter would work in an S2 with the air filter being shielded away from heat and being in the path of cold air from outside the car.

By trial and error, I found that the S2 does not like the filter immediately in front of the AFM. I had initially mounted the K&N behind the LH flip up light, but was not happy with the result (it didn't feel much more powerful than the same setup using a Pipercross filter, which produced 148 Bhp at the wheels on a RR.).

I then attached a 20 cm long Samco hose, with a 90 degree bend to point the filter downwards. I had to cut the LH lamp A-brace, and a chassis edge plate to allow fit. This feels much better, and curently, I'm trying to book the dyno to prove it conclusively..

All - thanks for the replies..

My reasons for going back to standard was really just to see what, if any, difference it made.. I too did wonder if the K&N would struggle on hot days for fresh cold air.
I also drive daily now so thought that back to Origional can only help as I sit on the M25 a fair bit and in traffic it must get hot under the bonnet.

First thing I have noticed really is the loss of the induction noise.. It wasnt loud by any means - but you can definatley notice that there is no ror now!

As for performance difference.... well.... I dont think that any of us will notice a 1-5 BHP loss or gain anyway - is all in the bum dyno! [;)]

That's exactly what I found too, although JZ Machtech did tip me off as they'd done some dyno work on another car. With the intake pipe too short it very noticeably lost torque, so I bought a long J pipe from ESS and ended up with the filter midway behind the badge panel.
