K&N panel filter - worth it?

Guest

Hi there - I'm looking to make sure my C4 is breathing as well as it can without doing any major mods. For those who have tried before, is the K&N filter worth it over the oem filter? Does the K&N also improve the sound?

TIA for your advice.

this post will explain all !

but using my own conclusions, I still ended up fitting one..[:D]

Isn't there a genuine Porsche freer-flow filter for the 993? Was mentioned in 911&PW a couple of months back. Worth checking that out? (I've seen Maurice's posts on the 993 motor being optimal already.)

BTW, that thread Sundeep posted got 'lively' for a few seconds. Great stuff - and unusual for here!! [;)]

I have never seen any evidence it makes a difference. Unless somebody can stick a dyno chart in front of me showing a difference before and after with no other changes then I will continue to remain sceptical.

On my old 964 It cost me £40 to buy and an extra £40 on insurance when i declared it as a fitted extra.
Difference noticed.........Absolutely Nothing []

I have been running with a K&N filter for the last 8 months, but last week went back to the OEM filter.

Noticed a few things, first it now does'nt sound as good, but at low revs when manouvering, it is now smoother without the rev lurching that I experienced with the K&N filter.

Thanks all for the words of advice and suggestions... As there doesn't seem to be anything exceptionally compelling for it given your feedback... I think I'll keep it standard for the mo'.

Cheers!
