Anyone know anything about the history of this car? A silver Tiptronic coupe that is/was for sale at Classic Chrome in London. I've been away on business and it now looks it may have sold/ had deposit taken. Drat, I really want that car. Not any other - this one is perfect for me. thanks.

Update: I've managed to buy it. Very pleased. Now I have to work out if I keep three Porsches or sell one.. I rather love the 944 which I've had more than 20 years so it may survive! Still hanker after another 928 sometime. Any clever ideas on keeping batteries alive welcome. My garage hasn't got power.. wondering if to cut batteries if cars not used for periods or try these solar power chargers. Thanks to all

I use a battery isolator if I`m not going to use the car for more than 3 weeks, battery needs a charge otherwise.

I've had power in my garage for many years and use a battery conditioner - which works superbly. If you can southern engineer power into your garage, I'd recommend this!

Thanks to both. Getting power to my barn/garage, which is some little distance from the house, ain't so cheap! From long experience with the 944/968 I find they last about 2 weeks fine just sitting there with doors unlocked but three weeks starts to challenge the batteries. I know I'll lose clock/radio settings if I isolate battery? But are isolators easy to fit/ install? could get my garage to do them all as they get serviced.

I fitted a battery isolator to my 944 - it just replaces the connection to the battery earth cable.

Disconnecting the battery will however turn off any alarm fitted.

I too was interested in the silver 968 until the pictures of the interior were added - the blue trim and seats were too bright for me.

Thanks. Whatever I do with power I think I'll get isolators.

Thanks Mike for that last post. I think the interior isn't as garish as it may look in the pictures! I know how you mean though, I have passed on cars in past which have otherwise been fine but have really dreadful interiors - well cared for, just awful colours.

i have a conditioner on mine but i know some 911 yorkshire owners have solar pads that give enough charge even through winter, prices do vary!

Like you I have no power to my Porsche garage I fitted a battery isolator to my 944S2 cab it fits to the Neg terminal and cable fits to that simple thump wheel unscrews to isolate - never had any issues with the clock.
Very popular withe the caravanning fraternity nowadays is solar panels in various outputs 60w upwards to keep 12v onboard leisure battery charged/powering 12v lights/radio/tv etc. Sited outside or on roof a suitable sized one could (junction cabled) keep all 3 batteries topped up ideally through suitable maintenace charger/conditioner if a 12v versions exists?

My 944S2 would last 4 weeks with alarm turned off, 6 weeks with the isolator and my current 968 about 4 weeks and I know it needs a new battery, so I suspect yours only lasting a couple of weeks indicate either a new battery or a full charge from a charger is required?

The onboard solar panels for car charging usually sit on the dash with power going into cigarette lighter port (Porsche ones not live with ignition off) or on roof with leads clipped to battery terminals - in your garage would you get enough daylight to energise a solar panel?

Hope this helps?
