As a user of this airfield for many years, in fact I was one of many who helped the owner to retain planning permission for use, I very much doubt if the airfield will close. There simply is far too much investment in the place, too many jobs would be lost, far too many businesses would close, there are over 5 flying clubs there, MidAir Squadron, aircraft maintenance facilities and the worlds largest aircraft dismantling company to name but a few.. This is just a proposal by a speculator as an alternative to another hosing development near Cirencester. I suppose the industrial site on the south side might be developed as a compromise though, but the airport would stay operational. In my opinion, a pipe dream. Yes it would make money for the developer, but lose shed loads for the local community in both terms of jobs and revenue.

It's a smokescreen. I live in Cirencester and as Derek rightly says the Tetbury road (Bathurst development) is the most likely to get the go ahead. The Kemble proposal is a late arrival and has no merit.
