Key Buttons

I have the early type Cayman keys and as lots of others do, I find they will trigger the locks, boot opening or window opening without me deliberately pressing the buttons such as when the key is on my pocket.

A common problem I know and I considered either filing the lips of the buttons to reduce the ridge or making replacements but first thought I'd check on the 'net to see if replacement buttons or key heads were available.

I found one company advertising a key pad cover, no picture, no stock either for that matter so I don't know if it is s slip over cover or replacement buttons.

Has anyone else come across this?

They are a good bunch, I have used them many times when I lived over there, indeed they will ship to the UK. The GBP price from a UK dealer is still competitive as don't forget that imports are subject to VAT/Duty unless you get lucky. [;)]

Not exactly cheap or easy to buy from, I looked at setting up a Bongo account $5 plus the price $42.12 plus VAT on imports $8.43 comes out at £35.96 plus the postage. I looked on ebay.us in case they should sell through there but no luck, it would have been good as I could use an existing paypal account may even have missed the VAT. Items are light enough for airmail. Does anyone organise group buys as on Planet 9? I've emailed them with a question re Paypal, since I doubt if I'd do more than the occasional purchase setting up another online paying method does have some risk, especially if I'm not using/monitoring it. The follow up to this is that I got a reply from Suncoast and they can accept Paypal plus they can send such small items through the mail.[;)]

Well, I got a reply back from Suncoast, postage $22.12 on top of the price of the buttons $42.12 making it $64.24 or rather £41.27 for 3 buttons, I think I'll continue to carry them in my hand until out of range.[&o]

What really gets me is if you are getting something out of the car and say a door is open and you depress the key in your pocket - the horn then makes a tiny beep. I wondered what was going at first but even after a month or so, it still amazes me just how sensitive it is !

Or when you're loading the shopping into the front boot and bend down to put stuff right down in the bottom and the rear boot pops open![]

Sounds like you need the car adjusting too. The delay from pressing a button to the boots opening can be increased ie you have to hold the button longer before it opens. A dealer will do this for you, takes 5 minutes. If you are lucky it maybe free.

Yes, I intended to do that when I took it for MOT a few weeks ago to see if it would sort it out but ended up being in a hurry to be away. I've got friends at an Indi not far away, I'll pop in and see about them doing it.
