key fob issues

devans

Thought i would share some findings.
On nearly every occasion posts are returned with some fantastic advice. However, key fob posts very often return with results like REPLACE or CHANGE BATTERY or REVERSE POLARITY etc, all excellent advice.
When mine packed up again recently i got sick of feeling 'here goes another one'. The advice i got at my recent service was once again to replace the fob and have a new one reprogrammed.
However, whilst i've taken the key fob apart in the past and found the pcb broke, on this occasion i could see little wrong. Then you might think the transponder is an issue.
However, and this may be good for others to know. If you find the fob stops working i found that the battery touch point on the side wall of its recess wasn't connecting all the time. I know this sounds simple and it is, but with a simple prizing of the connection point, the fob has been working fine ever since. Sometimes these units are given up on too easily and if i had said go ahead i would have been another £100 out of pocket.
