Key Fob

Anyone had any experience of getting a key fob repaired in the North East? The little black rectangle with two silver squares on the right side of the circuit board is an upside down chip of some sort, it should be attached to the two contacts above and to the left of it. It could presumably be reattached, assuming you worked out which way around.

If repair isn't practical, any suggestions for cost effective sourcing of a replacement key?

Key is from a 2007 Boxster 987.

Many thanks,

Edward.

Hi Edward,

I'm not sure where you are in the North East, but if you can't repair your key and you are near Middlesbrough, give Dan at 24/7 Car and Van Keys a call and he may be able to help you with a new one. His number is 07551 364511.

That is a crystal that is knocked of the board.

If the lands and tracks to them are ok then it is possible to solder it back on although it can be tricky with surface mount components with little contact area on the ends.

If no other components are damaged it should work ok.
