Key fobs not working!

Hi all,

Niether of my key fobs are workings so i'm having to open the car with the key. [:mad:]
I have replaced the batteries but that hasn't worked.

Do I need to reset the system, if so does anyone know how?

Hi there was a post about this happening a few weeks ago.
There are a couple of fixes like putting the batteries in the wrong way round (reverse polarity) or putting the key in the ignition and pressing the lock button twice.
If neither of these work then I think you might have to go to your local dealership to get them reprogrammed !
 
I can tell you the head is about 160.00 and reprogramming takes it up to £200 for a key at an OPC.

Not great, my second one just stopped working but I am hoping it is a loose connection or the battery.....

I tried both, neither worked. One for the myth busters I think!

I have call Northway and they will get me a new key and code for £120+VAT.

If there are any other suggestions then I will give them ago and let you know.
 
You can buy complete uncut keys off eBay for under £30 each but you then need to transfer the RFID chip from the existing key to the new one. But if the chip is duff, you still need to talk to a specialist to program a new chip for you.

All this reprogramming stuff might sound frighteningly expensive but at least the system isn't as stupid as that adopted by BMW (and some other makers) since that allow any scrote with a laptop to program a blank key with a laptop plugged into the ODBII port - and then drive off with your car.
 
I have seen them on e-bay but the casing only and I need the workings inside to be recoded.

I think that's right?

There are 3 elements to the key. The blade, the immobiliser pill, and the radio remote.

The blade is obvious. You can buy a blade, ready cut to the car, and this can be ordered from the vehicle VIN. The lock numbers are stored on Porsche's IPAS system. You can buy blanks, and have them cut, but you can also get them cut to a photo of the key. Surprisingly, this works well, and you can find sellers on eBay.

The RFID pill is programmed to the alarm module, but in the process a code is written back to the pill. This ensures that the pill can only be used on that car. It cannot be programmed to another car. I have never heard of a pill going bad.

The remote heads come with a 24-digit code on a tag, which is entered during programming. Porsche do not store the remote codes on IPAS, so they cannot be reprogrammed to your car. If you buy a used key, the remote will be useless without the 24-digit code, as will the immobiliser pill.
 
One of my keys stopped working so I used my spare key, this worked for about a week and then also stopped.

What you are saying is that rather than buying a new key, just get the fobs re-coded?
This would save £100/key[:D]
 
Does the same apply to the cabriolet button on the keys?

With the smallest window of sun at the weekend, the roof was down smartish, but I could not open teh roof with my key.

I pressed the button, the light flashed, but no magic. I had to use the button on the dash.

Can the key ne resynched or is the same issue as above, new key remote bits?

Oh the central locking function does work, but can sometimes you need to be very close and pressing for a second or two.
 
So if I give the V5 to my garage, they can then get a new 24 digit code. With this can they recode my existing fobs?

A re-code is only £25, new fobs are £100!

Or doesn't it work like that?
