Key "fobs".????

Big Dave

Now i realise this might be a "schoolboy" question,, But here goes.
Ive got a couple of key fobs for my car, The type that fits around the ignition key. They had the colour porsche crests on sometime ago, but they are now just a blank space,...
How do i go about dismantling the fob to replace the "head" of the key,,..?? I have all the guts , ie battery bulb etc apart, but cant seem to get the metal blade of the key apart from the plastic head.?????
Anybody know.???

I use a blunt thin tool, like the end of a bottle opener tool on a swiss army knife, to press in the small square locking feature on the right hand edge of the fob-thingy as you look at the Porsche crest area. Once you prize it open then you can remove the innards and transfer to the new fobs.

By the way my Porsche crests are plain silver. I originally thought the colouring had worn off the crest and was going to buy new ones as well, but realised that as a option you could have the key with Pewter Porsche crest, which is what I think i've got.

There was a nice mod I saw somewhere that replaced the bulb with an LED and utilised an easier to get battery.

Dave,
I posted about exactly this problem a week or 2 ago. I can't get it apart either, it seems to be bonded in. It was suggested that it won't come apart but that OPC will have a shaft only that can be cut and then installed in the new mount.
Not entirely sure about this but since the new mounts are proper Porsche bits there must be a way.

Sorry - I mean the locking feature on the left hand edge as you look at the crest. It is a bugger to get apart but it is not bonded together.

Scott.
Ive removed EVERYTHING in the fob,[incl the little locking thingy],,, apart from the key blade. It just doesnt seem to want to come out..?????

Ok ,, Just figured it out... Just pull the key blade downwards away from the fob.....[8|][8|][8|][:D][:D][:D][:D]
