Key locked in the rear boot

It is possible to retrieve your car key from a closed rear boot [:(]and the car has electronically re-alarmed/immobilised because you didn't open either of the doors. Grateful thanks to Anthony [:)] from the RAC (Porsche Assistance) who tried out various suggestions made by his technical support team[>:]. Eventually he succeeded to the cheers of the audience [:D]and he didn't cause any damage to the car. His antics were keenly watched by 10 Porsche club members [8|](thank you for your support and friendship), who were seated in a row at the rear of the car (no pressure then!), 8 of whom owned Boxsters and were keen to know if he was man enough for the job![8D] Needless to say, in future my car key will be hung around my neck and only removed to put it in the ignition!

Very interesting.

Of course you can't post on here how it was done, but did you watch every move so you know how to do it in future?

I'd be very interested in how it was done - maybe i'll go and chuck the keys in the back now and see if other RAC folk can do it too.

bit of dja vu here - did the same whilst parked at helens house almost exactly a year ago - i knew where the pull wire was hidden, but it took several phonecalss between Porsche and the RAC man to discover how to get to it !

Well, sort of, but I know of at least 5 men who do!! At least I have confidence in the RAC now and according to Anthony he was contacting the RAC technical support and not Porsche so do we get special treatment?

The person who turns up is usually the nearest RAC van available but the call to the Porsche Assist is taken by a RAC person with some knowledge of Porsches. I assume they then filter whether a specialist is needed or just someone to tow away the car to the nearest Porsche centre or home... In case of mechnical issues they will just take the car to where you want it repaired/checked...

Hi Boxsterbabe,
I was one of those 5 men! What I now know is that 'it' is not in the same place on my 986, at least it is not available by the same method! By the way. Have you found out how to open the front lock yet?? Glad you got home OK, and thanks for the entertainment.
