Key Not Working

I bought a 996 at the weekend (yay!)

A '98 C2 - however, i read in the manual that after 5 days the transponder for the remote unlocking switches off..

Because i go away a lot with work, i thought i'd check the key in the slot, dont ask me why???

But it doesnt seem to unlock (or lock) the doors that way?

The key turns 90 degrees in each direction, but nothing happens? no sound, and the door is left as before?

Is there some setting that can be changed? or something that may need tweaking?

Sounds like a door switch problem. Does it lock/unlock from the passenger door?

edit: What a plonker! I've had the car for 2 1/2 years, and only just noticed there isn't a key lock on the passenger side!! Anyway, you need to get it checked with a PST2, which will show if the lock switch is working. If you are anywhere near me in Maidenhead, I can help.

Yes, i did wonder if i had the only C2 with no passenger door lock!

thankyou for the offer, im over near bath, so a fair distance, i might have a chat with Steve Bull - my local indy to see if he can have a look for me?

I do have the OPC - well, i sent of the change of owner on friday - but i dont know if this will be covered under warranty?

I would have thought that it was covered by the Porsche warranty, but you never know - they might have some way of wriggling out of it. In the same way the coolant tank isn't part of the cooling system (in their eyes) maybe the door lock switch isn't part of the door!!
