When i purschased my 996 it came with 3 keys- 2 proper keys and the one emergency one. On closer inspection only one of the proper key had any electrics inside - so i have only ever had one key that operates central locking etc.
Today it gave up the ghost and taking it apart i see that the 'button' has come away from the circuit board inside.
My questions are a) i asume i can take the pcb to an electronics guy and simply have the button re-soldered on ( when i place it in the right place it still works)
but my main question is - if i cannot get this one repaired what is the score with Porsche ? Can i just buy the electronic side of the key and get it programmed by porsche and simply re-inserted ? if i could then i could get both my keys working. Or am i going to have to buy a whole new key ( if so how much ? - i imagine its re-mortgage the house time)
Any thoughts kindly received
