Key remote stopped working

Hi All,

One of my keys has stopped operating the central locking using the transmitter button on the key. My wife unlocked it normally, drove to the shops and locked it but when came back to the car was unable to open the car with the remote button. She had to open it with the manual key and that of course triggered the alarm until she turned on the ignition. Here is what I know:

1. The red LED is flashing as it should (at the same rate as the working key) but the car is not responding.

2. The key is used regularly and was working OK earlier that day.

3. I tried a new battery in the key but it made no difference.

4. I turned on the ignition with the key, then turned off, removed the key and pressed the button within 6 seconds to re-sync the remote but this did not fix it.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
B

If you remove the battery in the remote and insert it the wrong way round, then fit it correctly, it resets the remote and enables the 'lost' connection between transmitter and receiver.
Seems a strange thing to do I admit and I was sceptical when advised but it worked for me.
