Keyed Car

Went to see Take That last night which was a really good gig and somebody decided they didn't like me or my car and keyed it so that will need sorting. Already called Chips Away for a quote and awaiting a call back.

Has anyone in the Nottingham area got any experience of a paint man in a van?

Thanks

Sorry to hear about that.... there are some mindless feckers out there.

Some one did the same to my Megane on New years eve and I'm still waiting for a call back from Chips away[&:]

Jealousy. Depending on how deep it is some body shops can use a compound to rub it out.

Some of it will rub out I'll have the polish out later although I think it may require a little bit of paint...... Annoyed that some people see a nice car and thing w.nker instead of as I think that's lovely I bet he worked bloody hard to get it.

Sadly it doesn't work like that Topturn. Only yesterday I parked very briefly, with the top down, to grab a paper. When I returned I found a coffee cup on the bonnet whilst it's contents were all over the interior.£100 to clean that little lot up.
It's a good job the pros of ownership outweigh the cons.

I just don't understand the mindset of the person that does stuff like that.

Were you in Nottingham at the time? I lived there for 10 years, never known a city so full of scum in all my life. Now live in rural bliss. Drive around Derby not a single bit of grief so far (OK it's bound to come but in Nottm I'd already have had several earfulls by now). When I lived in Nottm my wife and I between us witnessed a crime or were the victim of crime 29 times in 5 years. Great city.

No I was at the NEC in Brum..........N'ham has so far been good. I've lived 5 miles out of town for the last 6 months and have worked city 'central' for the last 6 years.... With no hassles and in that time driven some lovely cars.

In my garage now I have a P Reg Skodia Felicia 1.3LXi (The Posh One) - 750 quid buys you alot............ Serious offers only.

Nottingham - "The Worlds Best City"................ Hong Kong, New York, Auckland all take some beating!

Well some might say you deserve it for having such bad taste in music [:D]

But on a more serious note I sympathise with you as I spent 18 months searching for the best 'S' my money could buy and found one with near perfect bodywork ,the normal stone chips and light bodywork scratches but not a dent in sight.

After two weeks of ownership and one trip to a local hostelry I came out to find some white van man had ensured his door embeded itself into my rear quarter panel leaving quite a dent [] when I confronted the gent he merely shrugged his shoulders and said it wasn't him [:(]

Mind I didn't half hurt my foot when I modified his rear light:ROFLMAO: (joke)

I hope you have better luck than me. Chips Away is a franchise and thus quality varies-a lot. On my first experience, it was a silver Merc and I paid £30 for a scratch caused by the kids bike. Absolutely perfect job.
On my second experience, I grazed a loaned silver Z4 in my garage and before giving it back I called in the local Chips Away guy. (I had moved house by then) He spent over an hour on the job, cost £120 and said all was perfect. I thought it was at the time. Two days later, I gave the car back and it was then pointed out to me that the job had been badly done. Something about eggshell effect. I took one look and didn't argue. It looked really rough. Another £88 it cost me in charges and I'm still waiting to hear if a respray would be necessary.

They do offer some sort of warranty though but the ChipsAway Man hasn't even bothered to respond to my complaint.

All depends on where abouts the marks are, if there on the top side of the car your in trouble with spraying, the nearer the bottom the darker and harder it is to see and the easier it is to get away with spray jobs.

On the top the sun seems to show every detail.

Call out spray jobs are ok for easy work but if in any doubt use a professional in a set up workshop ( for some reason a properly set up work shops could never spray and prep in an hour like a call out guy does?)

I have been hearing rave reviews about a gut in Ilkeston (could it be Tony Farel or similar)

Silver cars are also one of the worst colours to match up.
