Keys in boot

I don't suppose I am the first but shutting the boot with the keys in it (in your jacket) and the car auto locking is a bigger pain than one might think! (987 S)

Also in the middle of Spain on a cold Saturday afternoon is not the best time. There seems no way into the boot without a key that's practical on the road side. Cut a long and tedious story short the only option was either to go home and get the spare key or wait days for it too be sent out"¦£500 later I got the second key and we were on our way, meanwhile of course the car was vandalised standing in the street for 36 hours full of our kit. All very clever locking it's self but I could do without it being that sophisticated "¦.

Moto is don't go away without the spare key in the wife's handbag! Alan

I thought I'd read in another post that the boot cable can be reached (with a tool) from somewhere under a boxster if you know how - would have thought an OPC would have helped you (although depends how "middle" of Spain[&o])

The moral here is always to take a spare key - not just for this reason but if you lose or one a bag is stolen or anything like that.

Sorry to hear of your troubles though. Bloody daft of the thing to lock its-self isn't it.

Wouldn't a 987 still be under warranty?
Porsche Assistance would have been able to help

...and yes, there are ways to get in - but if anyone posts how on here I will remove the that post! If anyone wants to know then email me...

Ta for that Porsche assist did turn out but just looked puzzled but then they were only the local breakdown truck...also on a Saturday afternoon no one was around to offer any advice. (Porsche Assist is in fact in Spain the RAC in Nice France! Very nice girl on the phone but no help, just implied it was a silly thing to do!)

Also jacking the car up on the road side a looking for the emergency release with the alarm beeping seemed a pointless option. Adios Alan

Do you not have the plastic valet parking wallet key? I always keep that in my wallet for just such emergencies [&o]

Yep good plan seems to work Ok and deactivates the alarm if you start the car with it and once running the electronic boot lock operates, in my case not much good as my wallet as that was in the car as well...perhaps tape it to my leg!

Seasonal greeting Alan
