Keys

Looks like I'm going to bite the bullet and my first boxster tommorrow. It is a 2.7 and I have checked out its service history with Reading Porsche and no issues so far. It is an ex fleet car so has had no expense sparred on servicing so disks etc are all new and has had full 48K service at 39K, now on 40K. One thing I have no idea of is how many keys there should be with the car and what are their functions/colours.

Cheers

Well good luck for tomorrow and don't forget to give us a full run down of the car (with photos) once you've got it.

I had a Jul '02 which had 2 keys - both were identical, no master/slave etc.

Top banana! You'll love it.

Make sure you get 2 keys - both identical, black and with the buttons to open the front and rear lids plus the car on the key head. I also remember a slave which resembled the blade of the key only with a small head which you would keep in your wallet (or in a safe place at home) so you can get a replacement cut if you loose the originals. You certainly get that with the 987.

Also make sure you get all the docs in the velcro flapped folder - handbook/instruction manual, service record (should have the build sticker in the inside front cover which matches the sticker inside the front bonnet lid). You'll have a separate manual for the stereo head unit. Ensure that you take out the spare wheel and check that all the tools are in the roll. Also, make sure that the locking wheel bolt head is there.

Finally, don't forget to take your sunnies with you when you go and pick it up!
