C4S al

Hi,

Having a week of asking questions. What is a kick plate in respect to a 996?

Is it the backing plastic on the drivers side where the spoiler switch is??

Lookin at one in carbon fibre on the net but no details apart from it fits all 996 and boxters.

Regards Alan

I think it's one of these....

That's right ... it's that useful label that tells you you're getting into the correct car - and not your OH's Golf or whatever - when you leave before having drunk enough coffee in the morning.

Hi,

Apparently it sits at the side of the centre console. Reply from seller. Really am wiser now!!!

So Centre Console is the area that houses the gear stick and handbrake.

Upper console is the PCM area.

Rear Console is the storage area atached to the centre console.

My thoughts anyway. Cannot see how it can fit at the side of the centre console when this is available in CF anyway. hmmmmm

Alan

The bit that has the gearstick etc is the rear centre console. The upper/centre console is the bit that has the pcm etc in.

The kickplates are what you see on the doorsills when you open the door, as shown above. I bought some carbon Carrera 4S ones for mine- the OE ones do look v smart as they cover more of the sill.

Hi,

It has all become apparent to me. The carbon parts that were forsale on the net were sold in a rather savvy manner.

The carbon fibre centre console, (the section enclosing the gear stick, handbrake etc), had been broken down to the main centre console, ashtray surround/ashtray and kickplate panel.

The kickplate panel in this context was the bit that fits at the side of the console by the handbrake.

I have seen the ashtray sold seperately but a tad cheeky removing the side part by the handbrake as in essence this is by default part of the centre console. All in all the seller got back nearly all the cost of a new CF console from Porscheshop.

As I am carbonising my C4S needed to find out as thought it was something else I could add!!!

Cheers Alan.
