Knackered Mafs

Anyone know a good place to get replacement Mafs for my Cayenne turbo? Been looking around and prices are all over the place, from £80 to over £300 each.

I would try some MAF cleaner first (remembering only to spray the MAF and not go at it with a brush).

Yeah might do that tomorrow. Tried that in the past with other cars I have owned only seems to be a short term fix.

Mafs ordered form here. airmassmeters.com Read good things about his company, worth a try.

Black mats, no sorry. I like the thick expensive feel of the carpet mats. They have been cleaned before i bought the car. My car never saw winter this year. Sat in a showroom since october until I bought it last month[;)]

Also ordered an ELM code reader, from what I have read it should do most things on the cayenne ecu. Being an old Bosche ME7 ecu most things should work on it. If not will have to splash out on Durametric[]

My ELM arrived yesterday. Very impressed for £16. Reads codes, does loads of real time monitoring. Revs, boost, lambdas, fuel trim, AIT, fuel pressure and plenty more. Dont think I will bother with Durametric

I only have one maf reading so either one is dead or the ecu combines the 2 to give an over all air flow. I know one maf is u/s because on one bank of cylinders the fuel trim is cut as far back as they ecu came make it, indicating one bank is running rich due to no maf signal.

Bank 1 and Bank 2 which one is which. Standing in front of the car looking at the engine ( to save confusion over driver and passenger side )

Hi Pavesi,

I recently had to replace both MAF's as when a new one was tested with an old one, it still read as there being a problem, did not matter which one you swapped for a new one or different sequences....?

The only time no fault showed was replacing them both...

Can I also suggest joining the Cayenne forum on: http://forums.rennlist.com/

The guys on there are very helpful, and the Cayenne forum is a lot busier than the one here, however remember most of the user's are from the USA....

Good luck, and looking forward to some pictures of your Cayenne.....

I am register on there. Will put up a post and see what replies I get. I am on 6speed as well b ut it seems difficult to find tech help.

cheers

Paul

Looks great, once it's running properly you'll love it....

Have you got new wheels on it or on order...?

I've got the 20 inch Sport Techno's on mine, need another 2 x 18inch 15 spoke wheels for my winter rims....

Need to get some photo's of mine up sometime....[:-]

Hope you get it sorted soon....

They are a far better looking wheel. Yes get some pics up.

No wheels on order. I will just keep hunting ebay till I find a set. There was a cracking set on beay but they guy never responded to any of my questions so was to sacrd to bid, pity as they look real cool.

Got a towbar as well today. It is off a Touareg but from what i have read they are all the same. Hope so[:D]

I saw them too on E-bay, were going for £600 - £800 if I'm correct but the mention of damage to them put me off....

Plus, my mate had them on his RX8 and they buckled very easily, very soft alloy and with being 22 inch wheels and the state of the roads in Glasgow, I thought better of it....

Glad you got the towbar sorted....[;)]

P.S. Meant to say, if you don't get any help on here or Rennlist, I use a good independant Porsche specialist in Glasgow, who I use for my Cayenne....

Yeah strange guy I asked 3 different questions to prompt him to reply I even said i would buy then there and then for £50 less then his buy it now and he never bothered to answer. He has them for sale again. £500 this time but postage has gone upto £75. The damage sounds very small and 100% sure my wife will kerb them all anyway, she always does LOL. Hmmm, soft you say. I was just going to buy them this time. Not so sure now.

There seems to be a lack on technical knowledge on these forums. I used to be a mechanic many moons ago so will figure it out myself, just though a little help or others with the same problem sharing their fixes could not hurt.

I should get round to fitting everything thsi week end and go from there.

I know what you mean re the chap selling the alloys, and wife's kerbing wheels....[]

I had a look on Rennlist for your P01090 error code, couldn't see anything, most hesitation / rough idle was put down to coils...

Good luck in getting it sorted and look forward to photo's once it's finished...[;)]

Code was P1090[:D]

Started to replace my mafs and DV's today. WOW porsche engineering is not what i thought it would be. Deffo not the easiest job I have ever tried. Not even done one side yet ( started with the difficult side first) gave up as the weather is very bad up here. No idea how you guys would even try this without a car lift.

I expected working on a Porsche to be a breeze how wrong was I[:D]

Should get them finished tomorrow, weather dependant.

All back together and going great. faster more responsive and smooth idle. Happy. Not an easy DIY but worth doing
