Yes it was cooold.
No excuses where where you .I thought Jack would have wanted another run in the cars . It was a good turnout about 46 cars at least it stayed dry . PS are you comming along to our run on Sunday?

Brian,

I feel absolutely lousy with the cold. [:(] I would love to have been there, but went to bed instead.

I won't be at the run on Sunday no, because as usual, Stan is working, and Jack gets bored. I'm hoping that soon (and so is Stan) Stan won't be working seven days a week, and we can join in, on some of the events.

Good night out shame it was so cold and shame I got major crack in windscreen from large stone on way home[]

Dougie

Nae luck dougie but my car benefited from a new screen after KHill last year.
The track was busy busy busy, how many cars were there Ian?
Perplexing to see a red GT3 and white and cerise RS in the "B" group, perhaps RB felt he needed a we shot in the "Bs" after losing it at Duffis earlier on in the "A" group, I hope they paid extra for the privelige!!
I had great fun and apart from a small gravel excursion returned unharmed and full of the joys of 3.2 ownership, perhaps in contrast to another dentist who couldn't resist the urge to explore a smokey 2.0Bar boost in his 944.
Mike

If that F****G cobra is on track again - I ain't, he nearly crashed into me twice because he couldn't drive, then broke down in front of me.

Seems like many were just too close to spinning on that night...
It was just too cold to get enough heat in the tires. My car was
bouncing like mad under braking because of a confused ABS...

A great evening though!

Phil

Phil, usually you know what you are talking about so please don't be insulted but that's pish about the tyres ( correct spelling [;)]) there was plenty of grip and heating the tyres was not a problem, perhaps your pressures were a bit off, I noticed a big change in behaviour running 30PSI -- oversteer and 33PSI -- nice grip at the rear.

The Michelin Cup that I was driving require *a lot* more heat to have good grip than normal tyres (see below, quoted from
Michelin). So, 71 to 104 deg C in my tyres on Wednesday? No way! It was not an issue of tyre pressure, but one of heat
conjugated with brakes than were too powerful for the available grip...

%FEATURE: RACING-INSPIRED TREAD COMPOUNDING
%BENEFIT: Superior Adherence and Handling
%MECHANISM:
%The Pilot Sport CUP's tread compounds are formulated to have a maximum energy absorption (hysteresis) at competition
%operating temperatures (in the neighborhood of 160-220 F / 71-104 C). This is an appreciably higher temperature range than the efficient
%range for standard UHP street tires and provides improved traction and cornering grip for road racing situations.

Sorry Phil but I just don't buy it.
I was using DunlopFormula Rs and while they are clearly a different compound to the Cups they are also closer to the cups than road tyres and they provided the usual good grip.
Scott with the 993 2S has a pyrometer so we will have to check things out next time.
I don't see how you could guage that your tyres didn't achieve the min operating temp ( 71C) also there is a definite connection between pressure and tyre temp.
I love this stuff it keeps me awake at night!
Please don't be upset by this kind of banter as you will soon find I am seldom wrong!!

Occasionaly I am wrong but this is usually due to bad advice from Boydy, Mike N or Frazer , I would include the Griff but he hasn't a clue

Mike

mIKE you get more track time if you go out in A and B GROUPS dont stay up all night working this out[8D][8D][8D]

Mike

A pity you could not come along to our day out ,you would have been in your element ,we had the Director for tyre manufacturing for Goodyear Dunlop in our company.

Brian

Cheers
