Knockhill "Track-Day School"

Thought I'd let you know about the above, the first of which was run last saturday. Due to it being a sell-out, (before I could book a place!!) the next one has been confirmed for Saturday 22nd November and a couple of us have booked on it already!!
The event starts at 10am and finishes at 1pm. It is aimed at complete beginners who like the idea of taking their own cars on the track, so no seasoned track-day nutters, I'm afraid!!

The timetable will be along the lines of the following:

10am - Arrival & registration
10.30am - Safety briefing and track etiquette
11am - Tour of Knockhill in MG ZS with instructor showing all lines and braking points etc
11.30am - Q's & A's in classroom
12 noon - Take your car on track and follow instructor round, to build confidence
12.15pm - back into classroom for any final questions
12.30pm - Half hour "open" session on track [:D]
1pm - Farewell [&o]

The cost of all this?????? A very reasonable £45!!!!! [:)]

If you are interested in coming along to test yourself and your car with drivers who are equally inexperienced on the track, please phone Knockhill on 01383-720044. Only 24 places are available, so don't leave it too long!!

Hopefully Derek after the Knockhill learning days some more people will venture and enjoy the track events organised by Ian on a regula basis next year.
Regards
Gordon

[:D]Melv heard you missed a lot of track time this year and a few collegues suggest this would be an advantage for you [:D] [:D] [:D]

This is actually a good idea as seriously, the evening trackdays at Knockhill are not for the novice, so £45 spent learning the track and checking out your cars ability off season is a great intro to next years tracknites.
There simply isn't enough time in a 2 hr session to allow novices to learn lines at their own pace safely and in their own comfort zone, so I would heartily recommend this for all newcomers.
It may also be useful for a certain Gungho, Big Roller,LWT Vodaphone, to sign up to improve their lines and this could lead to less carnage and chaos in the summer evenings.
As always yours with asmiley face
Mike[:D][:D]

Booked! See you all ther, just look out for the Boxster driver saying "please don't hit my nice shiny car!" [:D]

Excellent! [:D]
Look forward to seeing you there.
I'll be there in my 944 Turbo, Neill Brotherston will be there in his 3.2 Carrera SuperSport and a pal of mine, Stuart Quate, is taking his brand new Honda S2000 on!
Really looking forward to it, but hope the rain stays off!!
We'll be sure to say "Hello". Are aiming to be there for about 9.50 or so. Could meet up with you beforehand, if you'd like? [8|]

Derek,

meeting up would be great, just don't know where abouts knockhill would be useful for us all, I'm coming from Glasgow.

Greig...

Well, sad as it may seem, I think our intention is to meet up for a nutritious start to the day at McDonalds in South Queensfery!! [;)]
That way, we are handy for a quick blast over the bridge to Knockhill.
9am sound OK? [8|]

Derek,

it's a bit far out my way for that time in the morning [] I'll see you there instead. There's at least one other boxster owner ("TopBear" = Grant) coming, so I'll maybe hook up with him and get you up there.

The crail day has been cancelled, so a few of those people will probably attend this instead.

Greig...

OK - No problem.
Sorry to hear that the Crail day has been cancelled. Was this due to insufficient numbers?

Yeah Derek, 4 people called off and this has reduced the numbers below the required 10.
We will organise to do something in early spring, once the weather improves.

Good stuff.
Keep us updated, as I'm quite sure we will get the required number between us all.

Ok, got a place booked for this event. There are only a few places left (or so they say!!)

Alan

Excellent, think I managed to get the last two spaces (me and the missus). Should be a large porsche gathering attending.
