knocking noise from rear

I have a 2002 Carrera 4 Cab.. Tiptronic

All is well and I love the car, performance is stunning as is the handling...

I do have a small problem though, when i accelerate hard in any gear i get a loud clunk from the rear
somewhere in the tunnel, I can feel it as well, like something hitting the body from underneath.
If i pull away or accelarate gently, and feed the power in i dont get it.

Would I be right in assuming I have an engine mount, or maybe a transmission mount about to fail or is this a normal sound?

Any help and advice appreciated. I have my own bodyshop so I have access to a ramp and tools so if anybody
can point me in the right direction Ill have a look.. otherwise its off to find a good Indy near Exeter

regards
Gary

Yes, it should be replaceable if you have a ramp. You need to remove the rear undertray and have a nose around the front of the 'box on top from memory. The part is around £100 from memory. I really can't remember if the box has to be dropped, but mine was replaced when the box came out for a flywheel & clutch.
