Knocking noises from front suspension

HI
I have a 99 2.5 Boxster which after approximately 20 mile of driving a knocking noise is heard from the front suspension, when the car cools down again the noise disapears.

This is my second 99 2.5 Boxster and both cars did exactly the same, unfortunatley my first Boster had an argument with a rather large sign post before I could get it looked at.

I have had the car lifted and looked at (when cold) but nothing was discovered, however after having th car lifted when the front wheel were left hanging for a while the noise disappear altogether for a few months, then eventually returned.

Any advice will be welcomed
Thanks
Aaron

My year 2000 2.7 has developed some knocking from suspension. Mine is worse when cold. Investigations show a number of things might be responsible. Suspension arm bushes, drop links, roll bar bushes and on the front track rod ends. My front track rod ends have just been replaced for the MOT with some improvement at the front.

My own conclusion is that there gets a point where all of the rubber bushes degrade. Seeing as my front engine mount rubber was disintegrating when I replaced it this seems to me to be a logical conclusion. My own course of action is to recondition the suspension and deal with all of the existing and potential problems on a 9 year old car with 100,000 miles on the clock.

Due to having a bad time with specialists and the cost of main dealer being disproportionate for the car I will be replacing the bushes with urethane ones myself. If you have the DIY ability then this is a reasonably easy job which should cost around £300 to do the whole car. The rubber bushes aren't available as replacements from Porsche so the whole suspension arms have to be replaced at around £250 parts cost per wheel. Having urethane bushes fitted to the old ones by a dealer can cost about the same. Maybe somebody who has had the suspension rebuilt at a dealer can give an indication of the costs.

The roll bar drop links are about £30 each and bolt on, they are often said to be the cause of clunking.
