The main complaint with the kumho's was the performance in the wet. The price difference was not worth the lack of performance with the kumho's.

One of the cars was 4wd no problems in the wet on that one.
The Porsche is a 944 turbo, had a spin in the wet at Silverstone this year although many people including Callum Lockie said it was the slipperyest they had ever known.
I'm very cautious of the 944 in the wet on the road. They are very inexpensive though. Two 255x40-17 £144 incl. fitting and VAT.

For the extra few pounds these tyres cost, it's money well spent.
After all what's the use of buying a Porsche and all it's abilities and then throwing all that away with non-approved tyre.
