KW Suspension

The suspension on my 1988 S is rather tired (to say the least), so I'm looking for a suitable replacement. There has been a lot of mention of KW suspension on this forum, so I thought I would ask for a few more details about people's experiences.

My questions are:

Which variant have people gone for, 1, 2 or 3, and what did it cost?

How do you find it on the road and track (most of my driving is done on the road, so it needs to be acceptable for use there)?

Where did you source it from, and would you recommend using them?

If you have chosen something else, how do you fell it compares? Not a question many people can answer really (except probably Fen, who seems to have tried everything at one time or another [:)])?

Any input will be greatly received.

Cheers

James

V1: Adjustable height and fixed rate damping.... Looking around £800+

V2: Adjustable height and adjustable rebound damping. Looking around £1k+

V3: Adjustable Height, Adjustable Compression and Adjustable Damping. Looking around £1,300~£1,500

My v3 was from Stuart at K300 Performance and cost the lower end of Logie's price band delivered to my door. I haven't had M030 fitted to my car, but from passenger rides in others on both road and track I'd say the KW v3 can be made more comfortable on the road and is much better on track. Remember I have Weltmeister ARBs as well though and I have a feeling they make a huge difference also.

The KW can be adjusted easily on the car with the exception of one rear setting; M030 rears have to be taken off to adjust which is a Royal pain. That alone makes the KWs better for a road & track car. There are other options people have also like Leda or Bilstein. Leda has had some quality issues for some people and a Bilstein user I know says they are too much for the road, making the car skittish.

I spoke to Stuart this morning. He seems like a nice chap, and even offered me a discount, as I'm a PCGB member.

I think I'll be giving him another call later on and putting an order in. I just needed to make sure that there wasn't anybody out there who hates them first [:)]

My own car has freshly rebuilt M030, and I think it is a good compromise for road and track, but it still rolls considerably when getting a move on with very sticky rubber.

I've driven a Leda equipped Turbo that had pretty stiff springs (300 lb I think) and it drove very well. The adjustability was fantastic, full soft was comfortable, full hard was bone jarring. Very easy to adjust on the car, but it did have the fitment issues that Fen mentioned.

I've been in Fens KW V3 car and it is definitley the best of the bunch. Stiff on smooth surfaces, but soaks up bumps too with its bypass valve. When I come to change my M030 I will be getting KW V3 from Stuart

You wont go far wrong with the KW V3 stuff...

Ive had the M030 stuff fitted to my car . I took it off + fitted KW,,,,, the KW stuff is way better. It can be adjusted a lot better..
The M030 gear was a bit "soft" for prelonged track use. The KW can be made to be very stiff OR comfortably supple....I wont say soft as i dont believe mine is ...
Oh + ive got the M030 anti roll bars fitted ...

Well, you've all pretty much confirmed the impressions that I had from reading previous postings. I guess I'll be counting my pennies this weekend.
