KW V3 Suspension

Has anyone tried the KW V3 suspension upgrade on their 993? How does this compare with the Bilstein or other kits?

John

I fitted this kit earlier in the year and had it set up for fast road. Really pleased with the result. The original (Monroe and M033 spring) were still in good working order, but I just decided it was time to make the change. Car more stable under braking, better high speed ride and body control, low speed 'bump thump' is worse but still not as bad as my Audi daily driver. Steering has lost a tiny bit of the 'feedback', but for me, it is all good.
If you're seriously interested you can have a go in my car and make your own mind up.

Its probably about £400-£500 cheaper than a Bilstein PSS9/10 kit, fitted with geo.Possibly more fiddly, if you want to adjust the bump and rebound as its a small allen key top and bottom and you've only got to look inside the engine bay to realise how far away the strut mount is....... My view is have it professionally set up, learn how to drive the car again, then think about adjusting, if you want to. I guess most people don't actually ever bother adjusting their suspension when its been fitted.

Where are you located? ProMax Motorsport in Milton Keynes can supply and fit KW as well as Bilsteins, but I haven't been in a 993 with KW's. If you are near the Northampton area I'd be interested in popping round to feel how she rides.

I'm on the Gloucestershire/Herefordshire border, but don't let that put you off. I could do with a good blast out. Suggest a meeting point over your way.(Silverstone?)

Thanks for the information. It is particularly interesting as your original setup is exactly what I have on my car, which appears to have had just the rear dampers replaced and so is in need of a suspension refreshment.

I'm in South Lincolnshire and would certainly be interested in a (mass?) get-together. Silverstone area would suit me too.

Thanks again.

Why don't you lot head up to Donington next weekend?? There is a (hopefully) big 964 meeting organised from 10:30 next Sunday. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a few 993s there as well. Maybe even some track time available.

Regards

Dave

Sounds like a plan! Are you available one weekend between now and Xmas, or do you want to do something after the festive season?

I can make Donny next Sunday, or could make it over to Silverstone pretty much any weekend, either day, anyone wants to nominate.Would be very tempted for a few lapsaround Donny, was at Coombe early November and you can really tell a difference with the KW's, compared to standard around there.

Hi

I had KW v3 fitted to my 993TT early this year.

Very happy with the result with the one compromise noted above.

Improved steering feel, high speed ride / stability and braking (!) - actually this was almost the first thing that struck me. Previously i was not that impressed by the TT's steering, but now I am quite amazed at how communicative and feelsome the helm now is. This may be though that the garage did a better job than the previous folk at setting up the geo.

Also I tracked it in August and was amazed at how stable and composed the car was. Levels of grip way exceded my ability and nerves.

Cost more than HDs, not sure about the other kit mentioned.
