KW v3 users - rear bump adjustment question

plenty

New member
My first time playing around with rear bump settings after fitting the KWs, and I notice that the allen screw that controls adjustment is awkwardly placed. To clear the lower mount welded onto the damper body, the allen key has to be inserted at an angle when accessing the screw, and the screw head is only 2mm hex in size so there's not a great deal of purchase to be obtained.

I managed to turn the screws clockwise, but have not been able to turn them anti-clockwise. I have tried both normal and ball-end allen keys but the key is just rotating inside the screw. I gave up pretty quickly as I don't want to round the screw head.

Any ideas appreciated.

Are you sure the allen key is rotating within the screw head? The thing that struck me when I made adjustment changes (on the front anyway) was how easy the screw rotated - with almost no resistance, you had to feel for the clicks. Maybe the screw is actually rotating with the allen key but due to the angle you're looking at it maybe you can't see it well??

Thanks. The screw is definitely not rotating - the key just turns inside the hex head. Pretty disappointed with the design I have to say.

Well i've never read about any problems with them, but it does look a bit of a small adjustment screw than you might expect, but like I said, they don't require any torque to adjust them. Might be worth removing the unit to take a better look.

Have a word with Promax or some-one who is familiar with the kit
I understood they were the ultimate kit
Keep us posted
Good luck
George

PS: I'll trade a refurbed M030 set if you get stuck [:)]

Plenty.
I seem to recal that on my KW kit the rear bump, the bottom adjuster had a larger than 2mm hex allen key, I had to use a ball ended key to do mine as the bottom mount does impede adjustment somewhat.
Yes they do adjust, youve just got to be patient . i used to adjust mine at every track day i did. So got a dab hand at it...

George.
I wouldnt say they were the "ultimate" kit, but there as good as your going to get for the money....
Unless you going for some £4K Intrac/Ohlins kit with remote reservoirs , youl have difficulty finding the "ultimate" kit...

Rare species Patrick, out of interest I was going to look them up but there's no ref on motec site.
How do you rate them against KW and how do you rate KW for road general purpose, I'm nearly afraid to ask as your car is like Kramer Porsches - more developed than the factory works cars!
thx
