KW3 Suspension

Hi,

I'm looking at replacing my worn out suspension and a local tuner is offering free fitting with KW3 - approx price £1200. Has anyone had these fitted to their cars? I'd be interested to know what people's views are?
Many thanks.

I have KW variant 3 on my RS. I am very happy with them. The KW's i have are specific to the RS and are designed to fit the standard RS uniballs. This was a major reason for purchasing the KW's as few other manufacturers appeared to be able to do this(none rhat i can recall). The upshot of which is that you would be in for new top mounts as well if you went for the other manufacturers kit. KW also do a kit for the standard C2. With the normal rubber top mounts. I beleive that since i bought my kit, KW have expanded the range and so may offer different packages to suit. I paid @1550 for mine and fitted and set them up myself so 1200 sounds rather good !
I feel mine offer a better ride on road and improvement on track. I would not say (for me at least) it's a night and day difference but it is a noticable improvement. It's also fair to say that the standard RS suspension is very good when renewed.

I've just taken KW Variant 3's off my 993RS and have returned it to standard.

Is 964RS the same ?

I had intended to return them to KW for service and then make them available for people to try --- though it's quite a big job with geo and everything.

Basically NO. The top mounts are different and I doubt the spring rates are the same either. Not to mention they have been designed for a completely different rear suspension system.
Of course the best way of finding out if you like them is to try a similar car. Sadly mines off road.

Well, I really didn't like them on my 993RS ... and I'm certainly not going to put them on my 964 ... !

That is very generous of you Chris!

Laurence,
Front spring rates are the same (well same part no. so should be[:D]), rears I would expect to be significantly different.

I haven't asked KW the cost of refurb yet !!

Maybe KW will do it for free if I coordinate the loans !!! ?

May even supply some 964 top mounts ? I will ask them !!

So I may only be able to offer this to 993RS ers ...

Sorry Tony it was off the top of my head. However i do wonder if overall damping would be different at the front? I don't know off hand but I assume the damper is not the same as the 64? seem to have faint memory that it's a single tube design rather than the twin tube of the 64 ? too much of a pain to start looking it up.
