Labour Rates

I'm just about to have some major work done, shocks, brakes, front wishbones and no doubt anything else uncovered in those areas plus all the geometry work. I've been quoted labour at £55 per hour plus vat by a quality independent specialist with discount for porsche club membership. Not knowing what the typical rates are in the market, does this sound reasonable
Thanks
Chris

I have my old girl (1973 S) in with OPC Leicester for a service and some fettling. I investigated the local-ish specialists and then called Leics. They're happy to work on 'older' cars (993 and earlier iirc) at £40 per hour. That, along with the terrific communication and service I've had so far mean my old girl will enjoy the care of an OPC. Can't recommend them highly enough - enthusiastic, knowledgeable and happy to tell me that some of the jobs I'd talked to them about doing aren't necessary (yet!)
