Lack of website updating

Not usually one for having a moan, BUT how long dose it take to update a website with a few new pictures and a couple of pages of text...? for such a large club being Porsche Club Great Britain it seems they are totally OFF the ball. Or have i just got the new year blues.[X(]

Hi Steve,

There are three issues here:

Firstly, when I took over as RS about 18 months ago the new website was due up and running pretty imminently. As I had no reason to doubt this, it seemed pointless to add content just to see it all change. The new website is due up and running this month, and will have a gallery you can download pics to, and lots of space for Register stuff. I can't promise it will be available at any particular point, as that's in the hands of the IT Director and his team, perhaps they could clarify this?

Secondly, with things like dates, technical advice, spares, buyers info etc all available quickly on the forum I'd guess pictures are the only thing that would be useful. To be honest if you want pictures then Rick's site has one or two, [8|], but if you have something specific I can put it on the website now or you can wait for the new site.

Lastly, I suspect that actually very few people will use the Register section of the current out-of-date website whatever I put on there. If someone is computer literate enough to see the website then they can get on the forums, and your's is the first comment in the last 18 months from around 1300 Register members plus the large number of non-members on here. I have asked for any content people want adding several times, and the replies have been pretty thin. As in, none!

The same thing applies to the events we organise, the magazine content and everything else about the Club. It's owned by and run for the membership, and as such only works if the members tell us what they want! [:)]

Hi Steve

I would concur with everything Paul has replied to your post.

You are one of our regional members (R16) and I think the same criticism can also apply to our regional section of the website. Probably like many others, I am awaiting the new website and will then get this up to date. Jeff Wright has already been in touch for copy and photographs and he hopes to go live next month, so things are hopefully progressing quite fast.
